09:00 pm - Has it Really Come to This??
Said goodbye to everyone today - it's hardly a long absence, one week. I think it will be good for me; perhaps I'll find myself in Bonn. Granted I'll miss them, especially Christoph, Amy & Nic - perhaps more superficially I'll miss my weekly fixes of Popworld, QI and HIGNFY. God bless Sky+..........

In unrelated news, the Rebekah Wade fiasco managed to reach the furthest corners of the British press - even the relatively trash-free Independent ran the story, ironically on page 3. Now I'd hate to start a rant, I have to say though that it's almost funny that a woman who has spent years selling her newspaper on celebrity scandal and startling revelations of abuse and domestic violence is herself now the on the front page for all of those reasons. And I bet she sold a hell of a lot more papers today as well because of it. Now I didn't read today's Sun, as I never do, but as far as I know her role was played down as much as The Sun could possibly play it down. It seems to be very much a win-win situation for her - if she's lucky she might have made an improvment on her husband's face.
And while we're on the subject of The Sun, if you're reading this Rebekah, please, for the love of God, sack Victoria Newton. If you do that you will earn a single ounce of respect from each and every person who's ever felt disenchanted by that arse-licking, self-righteous bitch - and that's a heck of a lot of respect.
Having just written all this it's occurred to me that I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel if I'm discussing the whys and wherefores of the sodding Sun.

Anyway, Stephen Fry calls. Normal service should resume in half an hour.

08:05 pm - Sodding UCAS...
Hmmm, today was non-eventful really. Harriet declared that she wasn't talking to me in the library, which was pretty childish, especially seeing as nobody's actually sure what I did to offend her. Sod her anyway. Tilly said she'd come to Bloc Party with me, which is excellent - 29 days left!! I'm also toying with the idea of going to that Big Night Out at the Brixton Academy, but I always make plans that never materialise into anything.
I've also got bloody UCAS to do which is a pain in the arse. Various friends who are way smarter than me sent theirs off today cos they're Oxford material. It's quite frustrating - personal statement, subject assessments and all that jazz...and some teachers are going to be less flattering than others, e.g. Maths will come down on me like a tonne of bricks while French will only have nice things to say, at least I like to think they will...
Oh, and QI's back. Hurrah!! Another series has been long overdue. And Popworld's back too (Double Hurrah!!), although it's been back a couple of weeks already but I haven't yet hailed its return.
Anyway I'd better get on with some coursework. Au revoir.

08:57 pm - Hello There..........
Well this is my first post, and as you can probably tell from the layout, I've yet to master the modify feature. Anyway with any luck you will be hearing from me more in the future. My name is Sofie, a.k.a Parked Lives; have a look at my profile if you're remotely interested.

Bye for now.
